The Rain Forest Jungles

One of Africa’s ultimate safaris is trekking the highly endangered and protected mountain gorilla. There are about 1000 in the world and they can only be found in Uganda (at both Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park), Rwanda (the Virunga Highlands) and in the DRC (Virunga National Park). Nothing can prepare you for your first sighting of a silverback, who can stand 6 feet tall and weigh in between 300 and 600 lbs. They live in close-knit families and the time spent with a group will change your life forever.

Rwanda is known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”. The dormant volcanoes have created a haven of fertile bamboo-covered land for the gorillas to roam and thrive. Virungas sits in the north-eastern corner of the country and is the perfect location for travellers to watch the human-like chimpanzees, and to view 12 other primates and 300 beautiful bird species.

Combining Tanzania, Uganda or Kenya with your trip to Rwanda makes for the great full African experience.

Nyungwe National Park holds astonishing biodiversity and is a protected reserve for many primate species. Ruwenzori colobus monkey, chimpanzee, owl faced monkey, grey cheeked mangabey, gorgeous Rwenzi Turaco, black-fronted duiker antelope, leopards, servals, and porcupines is a small brag of the incredible wildlife you can view in this magical part of Africa.

For a cultural experience, you can visit the main city of Kigali, where you will drink the most decadent coffee and truly get a glimpse of the devastation this country has risen from.

Rwanda is a year-round destination giving travelers ample opportunity to visit the thriving natural habitat.
