Fun Fact Friday: for the birders!

Trumpeter Hornbills are monogamous creatures.
During breeding season, the female seals herself inside a tree cavity with the help of her partner. She covers the entrance with mud, food and her own droppings, leaving a small opening for the male to pass food through. The female will live like this for months as the male forages for food and delivers it to her and her chicks. She and her chicks will fledge once they are ready.

These creatures are a remarkable example of avian monogamy and parenting 🪶
